With El Vy Live in Session

Lauren welcomes El Vy to the studio for live music from their debut album.

El Vy is the project of The National frontman Matt Berninger and Brent Knopf from Ramona Falls & Menomena. The duo have been friends and collaborators for a decade, and have finally released their first album together this year. Return to the Moon is the product of a longstanding musical correspondence, in which one would send ideas to the other over email. Finally, they got together in the same room and began to lock down this suite of songs. Whilst Berninger's voice is, of course, instantly recognisable, Return to the Moon finds him exploring new territory, both sonically - with the upbeat, synth driven songs on the record - and thematically, with lyrics that he describes as his most autobiographical to date.
