Lauren chats to David Gilmour, singer and guitarist with Pink Floyd, about his life, career and fourth solo album, Rattle That Lock.

Lauren chats to none other than David Gilmour - yes, he of Pink Floyd fame, and now releasing his 4th solo album 'Rattle That Lock'. David will be telling all about modern life, those arenas he's keeps filling, his writing process, and what comes next.

David Gilmour and Roger 'Syd' Barrett met as children in Cambridge and later began playing guitar together. In 1965 Syd joined Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason to form Pink Floyd, while David continued playing with a succession of his own bands. In 1968 David was asked to augment the Pink Floyd line up as the singer and guitarist, only for Syd to leave the group five gigs later.

David's guitar playing and song writing became major factors of Pink Floyd's worldwide success during the 1970s, including his distinctive vocals and guitar playing on 'The Dark Side Of The Moon', the fourth most successful album of all time no less.

In 1978, David released his eponymous first solo album, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Last year, the Floyd released their 15th album 'The Endless River' and it seems that the creative drive is back among the group. Who knows what will come next with this lot.
