New Freedom of Information data being published this morning claims to show that an inadequate-rated primary school is more likely to remain inadequate if it becomes a sponsored academy than if it had remained a maintained school. Henry Stewart is co-founder of Local Schools Network which campaigns to support local state schools, and Bill Watkin is director of Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, a membership organisation that works with schools and academies.
