Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall is best known for playing the infamous Samantha Jones in the award winning American TV series Sex and the City. Kim is now staring in the black comedy Sensitive Skin. Her character, Davina Jackson, is a former model and actress dealing with a midlife crisis. After recently portraying a fading Hollywood legend on stage in Tennessee William鈥檚 Sweet Bird of Youth, Kim talks to Jane about why she is keen to tackle the subject of ageing in her work, playing against herself as the 鈥極ther鈥 Davina, and the legacy of Sex and the City.

Vigilantes

On Friday, a man who has pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming will be sentenced. The internet group Dark Justice set up a fake profile on a dating website 鈥 posing as a shy 14 year old girl. 57-year-old John Rudd from Newcastle travelled to meet the girl and was instead 鈥渃aught鈥 by the online vigilantes. But is such vigilante action to be encouraged? Or could it be counter-productive and in fact, be putting lives at risk? We discuss the issue with a member of Dark Justice and Sharon Girling 鈥 the former policewoman who set up CEOP 鈥 the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.聽

Jane is joined by maternity fashion blogger Jessica Clark and stylist Melissa Murrell to discuss how to dress well during pregnancy and avoid spending a fortune on new garments.聽

Alexander McQueen

"I want people to be afraid of the women I dress鈥 said fashion designer Alexander McQueen, whose work is the subject of the V&A鈥檚 major new exhibition, 鈥楢lexander McQueen: Savage Beauty鈥.
Known to his family as 鈥楲ee鈥, Alexander McQueen鈥檚 career 鈥 first as chief designer at Givenchy, later going on to found his own label 鈥 saw the East End boy and unlikely darling of the fashion world become as well known for his ability to shock and provoke as for his creations. 聽His extravagant runway shows featured聽Gothic聽makeup, dresses made from fresh flowers, towering heels, butterflies and amputee models, while his designs exaggerated silhouettes and made low-slung jeans fashionable. 聽But the shows also invited controversy - with names like 'Cocaine Nights' and 'Highland Rape', critics labelled his work聽鈥榤isogynistic' 鈥 something he always denied. 聽聽In February 2010, on the eve of his mother's funeral, he took his own life, aged just 40.

Jenni speaks to Professor Susan Golombok of Cambridge University about her latest research into the newest family forms 鈥 including gay father adoptive families and single mothers by choice. 聽 Susan says the findings contradict 聽many previous assumptions about how children being raised in these families are affected socially and psychologically.聽
