Kristin Scott Thomas
Kristin Scott Thomas stars in a new film "Suite Francaise" based on the international best- selling novel by Irene Némirovsky. The half-finished novel was discovered by her daughter having laid in a suitcase in the attic fifty years after Irene’s death in a concentration camp in 1942. Suite Francaise is a romantic drama set during the Second World War German occupation of France and tells the story of Lucile as she awaits news from her husband – a prisoner of war, whilst leading a stifled existence with her domineering mother-in-law, played by Kristin Scott Thomas. She joins Jenni to talk about the extraordinary story behind the book, the problem of ageism in the film industry and why she is giving up films for the theatre.
Divorce
In a landmark Supreme Court ruling, Kathleen Wyatt has won the right to claim money from her millionaire ex-husband more than twenty years after they divorced. In the 1980's Dale Vince and Kathleen Wyatt married, had a son and lived as New Age travellers. After their divorce Ms Wyatt brought up their son and was living on benefits, whilst Mr Vince lived in an old ambulance. Although neither had assets or income when they separated, years later Mr Vince went on to set up green energy firm Ecotricity and he is now worth an estimated £107 million. Jenni Murray is joined by family solicitor Christina Blacklaws to discuss whether the ruling is fair, how it will impact on future cases, the history of financial arrangements and how divorcing couples can protect their future earnings from such claims.
The Politics of Housing
Woman’s Hour recently commissioned a poll to find out which issues women voters in the UK were most concerned about. Number one was the NHS, and number two the cost of living, including housing. So, why are women so troubled about housing? We hear from a focus group of women in Solihull in the West Midlands exploring why the issue is of such importance to them. Sarah O’Connor, Economics correspondent from the Financial Times and Nida Broughton, Chief Economist from the Social Market Foundation discuss why housing can be such an anxious-making topic.Â

Now based in the United States, Gina is back in the UK to tour her new show ‘Laugh Riot’ and for her biggest solo show to date at the Brixton O2 Academy. She talks to Jenni about being an outsider in America, and why she thinks comedy is an aphrodisiac for men but not for women.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Cookbook
The diagnosis of cancer can impact every aspect of someone’s life, and one of the key areas affected is eating and diet. Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatment can cause nausea, weight loss, a change in or loss of taste and loss of appetite, which in turn makes mealtimes difficult for both patients and their families. The Royal Marsden, one of the world’s leading cancer treatment hospitals, has just published ‘The Royal Marsden Cancer Cookbook‘ with recipes donated by celebrity chefs such as Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein and Thomasina Miers, edited by the hospitals consultant dietician, Dr Clare Shaw. Clare joins Jenni to talk about the importance of a nutritious diet whilst undergoing and following treatment and tips for patients and their families on tackling some of the most common problems.  Â
