The Simon and Garfunkel Story, plus the books to read before they hit the big screen
Janice Forsyth talks to Simon and Garfunkel Story stars Dean Elliott and Jonny Smart. Plus Andrea Mullaney and Alan Bett discuss books to read before they are turned into films.
The Simon & Garfunkel Story - stars Dean Elliott and Jonny Smart talk about reproducing the famous duo's tight harmonies and immersing their audience in the turbulent period of American history that was the backdrop for their songs. They'll also perform some of Paul and Art's hits live for us.
As Glasgow gears up for next month's Short Film Festival, BAFTA winning Scottish short film makers Ainslie Henderson and Will Adamsdale talk about the short film scene in Scotland and how the GSFF has played a part in their careers.
Choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot's Romeo and Juliet has been performed more than 300 times around the globe since 1996. It was performed for the first time in the Middle East in January, in Dubai, by the company Jean Christophe directs. But it's never before been to the UK, until now. Next week it opens at The Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, performed by Leeds-based Northern Ballet. Janice talks to Jean Christophe and Northern Ballet's Artistic Director David Nixon.
Nicola Benedetti, Eduardo Paolozzi, Sharleen Spiteri, Peter Capaldi - any list of the stars of Scottish culture has to have a significant number of Italian names in it. But the history of Italian immigration to Scotland hasn't always been an easy one. The forebears of today's stars often came to Scotland to escape poverty, starvation or war. Writer / director, Laura Pasetti tells us about A Bench On The Road, a new play telling the real-life stories of six Italian women who left Italy and made their home in Scotland.
And- how do you feel about film adaptations of the books you've really enjoyed? Andrea Mullaney and Hannah McGill discuss books you should read now before they hit the big screen.
