Christmas Special

Episode 12 of 27

The Antiques Roadshow marks the festive season with a look back at some of the year's highlights and updates about items that have appeared on the series.

The Antiques Roadshow marks the festive season with a look back at some of the year's highlights and some surprising - and heartwarming - updates about items that have appeared on the series.

Fiona Bruce finds out what happened to a striking piece of Banksy street art that appeared at the Roadshow in Bristol in May. There's exciting news about a Faberge egg discovered at the Wentworth Woodhouse show by jewellery specialist Geoffrey Munn.

Christmas comes early for Paul Atterbury, a keen model railway enthusiast, when he and Hilary Kay get the chance to play with a train set that hadn't been out of its box for over 70 years when it appeared at Chenies Manor in Buckinghamshire.

There's also a very special development concerning a tapestry stitched in tribute to rock band Status Quo by a young man left paralysed after a motorcycle accident. The story moved specialist Marc Allum, and many viewers, to tears and it prompted the Roadshow to arrange an emotional meeting between the young man's mother and the band.

Viewers will find plenty of treats in their Roadshow stocking this Christmas as the programme revels in some of the year's most beautiful and desirable objects and entertaining stories, from a surprisingly valuable train ticket to a clock once given as a gift by Queen Victoria.
