Two days ago pornography produced in the UK was to the 2003 Communications Act. A number of acts have been deemed ‘harmful to minors’ and banned but some claim the measures appear to take aim at female pleasure. So are the new porn regulations sexist and ineffectual, or do they make a necessary dent on an industry that continues to damage and exploit all women, not just those who work in it?

Since late September when the new President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, was sworn in, there's been considerable coverage of his wife, Rula, and the role that she is taking on as First Lady, with a particular remit for the welfare of women and children. But in fact there have been three women working in the presidential entourage for the last 13 years. Adela Raz, the deputy presidential spokesperson in Afghanistan spoke with the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Chief World Correspondent, Lyse Doucet, about the challenges the job involved from meeting the ultra-Conservative member of the Taliban to inventing her own dress code. 

This morning a Court of Appeal Judgment will be given in a landmark case of a seven year old girl known only as CP, now in foster care, born with serious developmental problems associated with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome. The condition can cause facial deformities, retarded growth, and brain damage. Doctors say CP's condition results from her mother's excessive drinking while pregnant, she was consuming half a bottle of vodka and eight cans of strong lager daily. Lawyers representing the local authority now responsible for the girl say her mother simply ignored warnings, so is guilty of the crime of poisoning her foetus, which means the girl is now entitled to criminal injuries compensation. Key to the argument is whether the foetus is an independent person at the time of the alcohol consumption. For there to be a crime, it has to be. Jane is joined by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s legal correspondent Clive Coleman who will be reporting for us from outside the court as the judgement is delivered to talk about the potential legal implications, and by Dr Anna Smajdor, lecturer and researcher in biomedical ethics, Norwich Medical School, University of the East of England, who will talk about the ethical implications of the case.

Bevis Shergold, was a British Intelligence servicewoman in WWII, and represented Britain in the 1948 London Olympics. She was one of the first women to be posted abroad to the intelligence services, and worked as a translator during the interrogation of POW’s in both Egypt and Algeria. Dr. Peter Johnston from the , and Dorothy Elliott, Bevis’ friend, speak about her military and athletic achievements, and the contribution she and other women made to the war effort
