The 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra in Strauss and Respighi. The 成人快手 Singers join for the UK premiere of The Annunciation - Brett Dean's depiction of the journey of the Three Kings. Josep Pons conducts.
Brett Dean is the 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra's new Artist in Association. The Annunciation - a commission to celebrate the 800th Birthday of Bach's own Thomanerchor (St Thomas' Choir) of Leipzig in 2012 - is a Christmas work which uses the story of the Three Kings as both vehicle and metaphor for a journey from darkness into light.
Respighi's intimate evocation of Botticelli's art includes 'The Adoration of the Magi'. Plus Richard Strauss's effervescent take on Moli脙re's satire 'Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme'.

8.20pm Remaining with the Thomanerchor, Leipzig, who commissioned Brett Dean's The Annunciation to celebrate their 800th Anniversary, we hear them perform Bach's own Cantata, his Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 61, conducted here by Georg Christoph Biller.
