Debbie Harry and Chris Stein

Forty years ago in New York, a young photographer called Chris Stein met singer Debbie Harry.聽 They formed the band and went on to have global success with hits like 鈥淗eart of Glass鈥 and 鈥淎tomic鈥.聽 They also were a couple for fifteen years and continued to work together after their break up in 1989. Chris and Debbie join Jane to discuss the music, their relationship and 鈥淢e, Blondie and the Advent of Punk鈥 鈥 an and accompanying book of Chris鈥檚 previously unpublished photos that celebrate the New York punk scene.

The Physical and Emotional Cost of Osteoporosis

The impact of osteoporosis, when bones become fragile and liable to fracture, can have a devastating effect on a person鈥檚 physical and mental well being. Lack of pain control, reduced mobility and independence are key problems sufferers face.聽has recently issued a survey based on the experiences of more than 3,000 people with the condition. The majority of people who responded were women. It鈥檚 estimated that half of all women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will break a bone due to poor bone health.聽 Dr Neil Gittoes, a consultant who specialises in osteoporosis and Christine Sharp, who was diagnosed with the condition, join the programme.

Exploited Au Pairs

The UK is home to up to 90,000 au pairs at any one time. Although the government introduced guidelines in June 2014, there鈥檚 currently have no protection in terms of working hours, pay and living conditions. Following a two year study, researchers at say the guidelines聽 need clarification and should聽 be backed up by providing au pairs with a means of redress if they find that they are being badly treated by their host family. Jane Garvey talks to Daniella about her experience as an au pair and to Dr Nicole Busch one of the academics behind the research.

Historical Sexual Abuse

In the next part of series into historic sexual abuse and assault we look at the allegations against Jimmy Savile and the culture of sexual abuse which has seen several other celebrities imprisoned in recent years.聽 When revelations of Savile鈥檚 behaviour surfaced in 2012, it not only launched Operation Yewtree, but also a national debate about the way in which celebrities had been able to abuse children and young people whilst in the full glare of the media.聽聽 Dan Davies, author of聽In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile, joins Jenni, along with Savile abuse survivor Dee.

, now aged 82, has written a new sex guide on a blog to show that women鈥檚 needs continue into old age.聽 The author of Superwoman and Lace says women need to embrace sex whatever their age. The former wife of Habitat co-founder Sir Terence Conran has written this explicit guide to female sexual pleasure in an effort to demonstrate that women鈥檚 needs continue into old age.
