Jarrod Lawson in session

Gilles celebrates live music this week with a selection of sessions including one new one from US soul singer Jarrod Lawson, recorded at Maida Vale.

This week Gilles is back in the studio for another Saturday afternoon mix up selection, joining the musical dots between soul, hip hop, house, afro, electronica, jazz and beyond, in his own inimitable style. This week it's all about live music, following on from 6 Music Live. Gilles replays a selection of session tracks which have been on the station across the year; including artists such as Rosie Lowe, Neneh Cherry, Sun Ra's Arkestra and a newly recorded one from US soul singer, Jarrod Lawson.

Jarrod, hailing from Portland, Oregon has shared the stage with the likes of Bilal, Average White Band and has even played at Stevie Wonder's birthday party. In this programme he performs three tracks, which were recorded at the 成人快手's Maida Vale studios, ahead of his debut show at the legendary Ronnie Scott's in London at the end of October.
