The Sound of Style: 1980-1990

Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe focus on the 1980s as the Sound of Style continues. Plus comedian Paul Merton pops by to talk about his new book.

We celebrate The Sound of Style season, a collaboration between 成人快手 Four and 6 Music looking at the love affair and inextricably linked relationship between fashion and music since the 1960s.

Episode three of 成人快手 Four's three-part series, Oh You Pretty Things, airs tonight at 9pm. It is narrated by Lauren Laverne and each episode is sound-tracked by a 6 Music presenter, bringing their music expertise to showcase the social history, sounds and looks of the period. Steve Lamacq has sound-tracked tonight's episode, which looks at the 1980s. Across the day, 6 Music shows will be styling their music and chat around the 80s, playing the tracks Lamacq has selected - plus other gems from that decade - and hearing from Lamacq about his music choices.

On each Wednesday the series airs, 6 Music will be playing music across the shows reflecting the years covered in that evening's programme, so today will be styling their music and chat around the 1980s.

Mark and Stuart will be dusting down their shoulderpads and ra-ra skirts to shimmy round the Mediacity studios throughout the afternoon. Maybe Stuart's legwarmers will make an appearance...
