Mulatu Astatke in conversation

Cerys is joined by Ethiopian jazz musician Mulatu Astatke ahead his upcoming London performance.

Cerys Matthews brings you eclectic music from blues to beats with poetry and the best live music sessions.

This weekend she's joined by the legendary Ethio-Jazz musician Mulatu Astatke ahead of a London performance in September.

Mulatu was born in western Ethiopia back in 1943. He was musically trained in London, New York City, and Boston where he combined jazz and Latin music with traditional Ethiopian music.

Cerys will also welcome the actress Lisa Dwan to the studio to talk about her current tour concerning the works of Samuel Beckett.
