Concentio Chamber Choir
Concentio is a multi-award-winning group of some of Northern Ireland鈥檚 finest young singers. Established by Jonathan Ireland in 2005 at Queen鈥檚 University, Belfast, the group has quickly become one of the most sought-after choirs in Ireland, performing frequently at concerts, weddings and prestigious events across the UK and Ireland. Concentio鈥檚 sell-out debut album Sleep now features regularly on Classic FM鈥檚 Most Wanted and Relaxing Classics programme.
Peter Millar
Having been a teacher of English and Drama, where he was responsible for the annual school musicals, Peter moved to a career in financial services, from which he retired 3 years ago.听 Although he is not a formally qualified musician, he has always had an active interest in music, having played and sung in various bands over the years.听 He has also been a member of Holywood Parish Choir for more than 30 years.
Peter鈥檚 involvement with Star Singers, as Musical Director, came about through his friendship with Malcolm Neale.听 He initially accepted the role with some trepidation but feels that, through a happy collaboration with the singers, he has grown to be highly comfortable in what he now describes as a most enjoyable shared working relationship.
Star Singers
Star Singers is the brainchild of Malcolm Neale, a former member of the Ulster Orchestra. Established in Holywood under the direction of accomplished musician, Peter Millar, in 2009, it aims to satisfy those wanting to sing popular music, with like-minded people, for sheer pleasure. The assumption that 鈥渢raditional鈥 choirs are not for everyone has proved to be correct; the Holywood choir has grown in size and excellence, staging two or three professional, enjoyable shows each year.
A second choir, led by school principal, Ken Perry was established in Bangor in 2012 and is growing strong.听 Although the primary aim is to have fun, the choirs provide coaching in effective singing, harmonising and rudimentary music reading.
