Steven Connor

Steven Connor

The writer and academic Steven Connor has written a book shining a light on the 鈥榮obs, hums, stutters and other vocalisations鈥 that pepper our speech. 鈥楤eyond Words鈥 (Reaktion Books) delves into the often overlooked sounds we make, including 鈥榰m鈥, which he calls 鈥榮ilence made audible鈥.

Will Eaves

Will Eaves

Will Eaves reads from his new book 鈥楾he Absent Therapist鈥 (CB Editions), which weaves together a selection of narratives and voices. Will discusses conversations, particularly the ones that never go as planned, and the pleasures of those overheard.

Hanna Tuulikki

Hanna Tuulikki

Hanna is a musician and artist. Her work explores the music made by people who live close to the land. Hanna has created 鈥楢t Sing Two Birds鈥, a piece which weaves folk songs which mimic the sound of birds. Hanna explains how moving between the songs is like 鈥榟opping between branches鈥 in her head.

Ron Silliman

Ron Silliman

An influential figure in contemporary poetics, Ron Silliman became associated with the West Coast literary movement known as 鈥淟anguage poetry鈥 in the 1960s and 70s. He has written more than thirty books of poetry, critical works and anthologies.
鈥楴orthern Soul鈥 (Shearsman) is the second installment in his major sequence 鈥楿niverse鈥. Inspired by his journey through Lancashire, 鈥楴orthern Soul鈥 was written during Ron鈥檚 travels, and captures a mind in the process of thinking.
