Hazel Prichard
Today there's another chance to hear Adam in conversation with Dr. Hazel Prichard. Hazel is an exploration geologist - one of only a handful of female exploration geologists worldwide - and she’s spent her career scouring the planet for one of the most valuable minerals on Earth – platinum. It’s a tough, sometimes dangerous job and it’s taken to her to every corner of the globe, from Siberia to South Africa and from India to the ocean floor.
Ìý
Hazel tells Adam about her search for new sources of platinum. These include chromite mines in India and road dust, where tiny particles of platinum from cars’ catalytic converters accumulate.Ìý She also shows Adam the mineral that made her name as a geologist and launched her career as a platinum-hunter. And sheÌýdescribes a recent close encounter with a leopard in India!
