Ed Byrne takes time out from his Scottish tour to drop in, Bill Bryson discusses new book One Summer and Janice embraces the vinyl resurgence with Vic Galloway and Bruce Findlay.

Ed Byrne is midway through his Scottish tour at the moment so we catch up with him ahead of his dates in Perth, Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Inverness this week. Bill Bryson is a master of turning obscurity into hilarity and his new book One Summer: America 1927 is another work that celebrates the unexpected. David Peat was regarded as one of the best documentary film makers this country ever produced but throughout his successful career, he was also a prolific photographer. An exhibition of his work titled An Eye on The World opens this weekend at the Dovecot in Edinburgh. Janice speaks to David's wife Patricia Maclaurin and film historian and close friend of David's, David Bruce to find out more about the man himself. Svend Brown explains what's on offer for UNESCO Family Day this weekend and we're treated to some music (composed by pupils from Glasgow) performed live by Red Note Ensemble. A fresh version of the classic American musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers rides into Edinburgh at the beginning of next week, we hear from the two stars Sam Attwater and Helen Blackman. Plus, with the recent news that vinyl sales of Daft Punk's album Random Access Memories were the highest Amazon has ever seen, we embrace the resurgence of vinyl and send Vic Galloway along to an Edinburgh record shop to choose one for us. We can't wait to dust off our old sleepy record player and remember what music used to sound like in the pre digital era. Bruce Findlay and Vic Galloway join Janice in studio to discuss why records have become so fashionable again.
