Cathy's guest is former nun Eleanor Stewart, who talks about becoming a midwife and the change of heart which lead to her leaving the convent to become a wife and mother.
Cathy's first guest on the programme is former nun Eleanor Stewart. Her life took her from wild teenager in the early sixties, to taking vows. She then began a career as a midwife that was to lead to a massive change of heart and direction, leaving the convent to become a wife and mother. It's an extraordinary story.
Julia Gillard, Miley Cyrus, Mary Beard, just a few of the names who've hit the headlines recently. Because they're women! And worryingly, they are being highlighted as victims of online abuse directed at them because of their gender. So is sexism back on the agenda? Cathy is joined by Laura Bates, feminist and founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, and Dr Lesley Orr, feminist historian, writer and acting chair of the Zero Tolerance Trust.
Every year, one in four of us will experience some form of mental health problem. This week the Scottish Association for Mental Health launched a campaign called OpenUp which aims to get people talking about mental health. Cathy is joined by Jo Anderson from the Scottish Association for Mental Health, by the former mental health chaplain Rev Dr Janet Foggie of St Andrews Parish Church in Dundee, and Gemma Welsh about her personal experience of mental health issues.
Ahead of her appearance in Edinburgh next week to give a series of three Croall Lectures at New College, Edinburgh University, Cathy caught up with teacher, writer and thinker Marilynne Robinson.
Over 200 million people every year go on some form of pilgrimage across the world. But Scotland has important pilgrimage sites too. To find out more Cathy is joined by Nick Cooke, Secretary of the Scottish Pilgrim Routes Forum and by Rev Richard Frazer, minister of Greyfriars in Edinburgh and a founder member of the Green Pilgrimage Network in Scotland.
