Lammo kicks off the week chatting with Edinburgh Fringe performers for Good Day Bad Day. Today we chat with Charlie Baker ahead of his 'Baker's Dozen' show which run at the Assembly George Square Three. His new shows sees him singing the biggest selling UK singles from each of the last 13 years, from Bob the Builder to Poker Face via Shaggy's It Wasn't Me. As well as a stand-up comic, Charlie is an accomplished Jazz singer and musician. He also sings in his own band - The Charlie Baker Band
In 2005 he was a semi-finalist in the 成人快手 New Act of the Year and the following year was a finalist in both the So You Think You're Funny and the You Must Be Joking competitions. In 2009 his unique talent won him the Edinburgh 'Spirit Of The Fringe' award.
Musically he has performed at some prestigious events, including playing at The Houses Of Parliament, the MTV Cannes Party, The Labour Party 2004/05 Conference and Sir Ian McKellen's 50th Birthday Party.
All this plus Radio 3's Tom Service joins to talk classical music ahead of the 6Music Prom on Monday. He and Tom will be presenting the first ever 6 Music Prom on Monday 12 August. Performing at The Royal Albert Hall, the Prom will feature original punk rock purveyors The Stranglers, double Mercury Prize-nominated Laura Marling, 6 Music's own Cerys Matthews, plus the London Sinfonietta who will be playing works by Var猫se, Berio, John Adams and Anna Meredith. Tom chats with Steve about the run up to the event and if the establishment are worried by the involvement of the noisy neighbours - 6Music!
