Great British Menu-winner Michael Smith makes an apple and celery soup plus a sweetcorn and rocket salad, while Edinburgh chef Neil Forbes explores Princes Street's edible garden.
As autumnal apples start to drop from the trees horticultural expert Frances Pringle explains why we need to get out there and catch them before they hit the ground. With a selection of cookers and eaters at hand, winner of the grand banquet in this years' Great British Menu Michael Smith, makes apple, celery and golden oregano soup.
Chef Neil Forbes visits the Edinburgh Garden partners edible garden project in Princes Street Gardens. As part of Edinburgh's entry to Britain in Bloom the gardeners have had to combine what makes something aesthetically pleasing with something that is productive. With a head full of recipes Neil meets, garden designers Nim Kibbler and David Doward.
Neil finds sweetcorn growing just beneath Edinburgh Castle in the garden. Frances gives advice on how best to grow sweetcorn at home and the tell tale signs of when it's perfectly ripe while Michael makes a very fast fried sweetcorn and rocket salad.
