Janice Forsyth talks to Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess about his memoir Telling Stories and hears some tales about living the archetypal rock and roll lifestyle.

The Charlatans front man Tim Burgess is revealing all in his memoirs, Telling Stories. He'll be telling Janice some stories of his time living the archetypal rock and roll lifestyle.

The protest song has long been part of Scottish culture. To celebrate this, and in memory of the talented musician Alistair Hulett, a song writing competition has been set up to encourage more of this kind of music. Musician Jimmy Ross, from the Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust and Penny Stone, winner of the last year's award, look back at the long tradition of songs for social justice and give some insights into just how to write one.

Canadian author Colin McAdam on A Beautiful Truth, a novel about a childless couple who brought up a chimpanzee. Fiction rooted in research, Colin came to completely re-evaluate the way he thinks of himself and his humanity in the course of writing this memorable book.

And, almost 400 years ago star dramatist and contemporary of Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, set off to walk- that's right- from London to Edinburgh on what we would today call a literary tour. A boisterous, larger-than-life figure, he attracted great crowds and celebration all along the way. Today he sets off once again, this time via social media, and we're all invited along for the ride. Anna Groundwater from Edinburgh University tells us more.
