School Meals Halal

Nihal asks whether parents should boycott school meals following the discovery of horse meat in burgers in a Lancashire school. Plus Shaminder Puri talks about his turban battle.

At 10, should all parents boycott school meals? There's been an angry response from some Muslim parents whose children are at schools in Lancashire after horse meat was found in Halal beef burgers. The Lancashire Council of Mosques say that the food being served to Muslim children doesn't meet the required standards. What do you think about this? Do you believe that a boycott will change anything? Would you be prepared to pay more for school meals or in taxes to secure higher quality products?

After 11, new EU airport security rules have come into practise this week limiting the times a Sikh would have to remove their turban at customs. Instead, staff will be advised to use either a swab or a hand held detector. Nihal will be speaking to Shaminder Puri, who has been involved in a legal battle with the Polish border guard over the issue and Sukhwinder Singh, assistant general secretary of the Sikh Council UK. Have you had problems at customs because of your turban? Or do you have sympathy for authorities who are simply trying to do their job?
