Alexander Moffat

Edi Stark talks to Alexander Moffat, artist and former head of painting at Glasgow Art School.

Edi Stark talks to Sandy Moffat, artist and former head of painting at Glasgow Art School. Coinciding with his best friend John Bellany's 70th birthday retrospective at the National Gallery of Scotland, he talks of their revolutionary student days together with the late poet Alan Bold. He also describes teaching New Glasgow boys Ken Currie and the late Steven Campbell and working on his famous paintings of a previous generation of poets including Norman McCaig, Hugh MacDiarmid and Edwin Morgan. In typically self-effacing style, he reflects on a career in which he has promoted and elevated Scottish culture and other artists, perhaps at the expense of his own art.
