Cookery challenge. It is quarter-final day, and the week's five best chefs must prove to Michel and Gregg they have what it takes by creating a dish of their own invention.
It is quarter-final day. Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace test the professional chefs to their limits as they hunt for Britain's next culinary superstar.
For the week's five best chefs this is where the battle really begins. First they must prove to Michel and Gregg they have what it takes by creating a dish of their own invention. Choosing from a beautiful array of fresh produce including pork loin, partridge, clams, girolles and artichokes, they must dazzle the judges with just one course. Only the best four chefs will go on to showcase their skills to three of the UK's fiercest restaurant critics.
The critics will be expecting two exceptional courses and the chefs have only an hour and a quarter to produce an outstanding menu that will be good enough to secure their MasterChef future.
The two most skilful chefs will go through to the semi-finals and continue the fight for this year's Professional MasterChef title.
