In the Beechgrove Garden, something smells... and it's Jim! After the success of the garlic spray last year, Jim is spraying the roses and all the fruit with this wonderful, but slightly smelly, garlic spray to deter pests.

The queen of bedding plants, Carolyn, is planning and designing a bedding plant display for Beechgrove to mark and celebrate the Queen's jubilee. Carolyn is starting off her design and planting, and has a recipe for a design that viewers can follow at home.

Lesley and her team from New Hopetoun Gardens designed and built the Garden for Life garden at Beechgrove some 16 years ago. It now has the same problems that many mature gardens of that age have, and Lesley's team are back to take the garden apart and put it back together again, rejuvenating this space where everything is good for wildlife. In the first part, they must decide what has to go, what they can keep, and what to cut back and how.

Jim and Carole are trying their hand at growing asparagus again. They've have had mixed results over the years with asparagus at Beechgrove, and that makes them even more determined to make it work this time. For asparagus inspiration, Jim visits Charleston Fruit Farm near Montrose, where they also grow six varieties of asparagus. Rory McQuisten, owner of the farm, loves eating asparagus, and decided the best way to get his fix was to grow it himself.
