Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music including news from the world of folk and the latest album releases.

This week, Mike talks to Simon Emmerson and Sheema Mukherjee from multi-cultural project The Imagined Village about their new album.

The Imagined Village - which sees traditional English roots musicians collaborate with British Asian and dance musicians - first emerged in 2007. Led by Simon Emmerson of the Afro Celt Soundsystem, the group's self-titled debut album featured The Copper Family, Martin and Eliza Carthy, Chris Wood, Billy Bragg, Paul Weller, Johnny Kalsi from the Afro Celt Soundsystem, singer Sheila Chandra and dance drummer Andy Gangadeen. The 2012 line-up includes traditional singer Jackie Oates and dance musicians Ali Friend (Red Snapper) and Simon Richmond (The Bays).

Simon and Sheema give Mike the lowdown on the new album, as well as a crash course in Indian music and an insight into how such a large collective manages to record and tour.
