In tonight's programme singer-songwriter Rod Picott performs live songs from his new album 'Welding Burns'

Born and raised in New England, Rod Picott started playing music at high school and after graduation moved to Colorado where he performed in various coffeehouses, before moving to Nashville. After several years playing in various clubs, a break came when he was driving Alison Krauss's merchandise van for her 1998 tour and she asked him to open for her. In 2001, Rod released his debut album Tiger Tom Dixon's Blues, named after his father's uncle who was a boxer during the Depression. The album received great acclaim for its style and substance along the lines of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, John Hiatt, and Steve Earle. He is a regular collaborator with his friend Slaid Cleaves, and co-wrote one of Slaid's most successful songs 'Broke Down'.
