Scottish Cup Final: Motherwell v Celtic
Rob MacLean, Pat Nevin, John Hartson and Craig Levein present as Motherwell take on Celtic at Hampden Park. Liam McLeod and Craig Paterson commentate; kick-off is at 3pm.
Live from Hampden (kick-off 3pm).
The showpiece event of the Scottish football season sees Stuart McCall's Motherwell take on Neil Lennon's Celtic at the National Stadium.
This is the Steelmen's seventh appearance in the Final. They were runners-up three times in 1930s and then lost to today's opponents in the 1951 Final in front of a massive crowd of 131, 943. However they went on to lift the Cup for the first time the following year with a 4-0 thrashing of Dundee. It took the Lanarkshire club 40 years to reach another Scottish Cup Final where
they took the spoils after a thrilling 4-3 extra-time win over Dundee Utd in 1991.
Celtic by contrast have won the Scottish Cup 34 times, more than any other club - the last one in 2007. It's ten year's since Neil Lennon made his first cup final appearance for Celtic as a player - they won the trophy in 2001 with victory over Hibs - a season which heralded an era of great success for the Glasgow club with Lennon as captain and Martin O'Neill as manager. Can he lead his side to victory today as manager? Or will Stuart McCall, who won three Cup winners medals in his playing days with Rangers, give Motherwell an historic third Cup Final victory?
'Well have already beaten Celtic in the SPL this season and Stuart McCall's side carry a genuine goal threat. In Chris Humphrey and Jamie Murphy they have players with pace who can pin back Celtic's fullbacks and target man John Sutton has the ability to cause trouble for the Celtic central defence. However Motherwell's own defence will have to be at their best if they are to stop Celtic hit-men Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Kris Commons from scoring.
The Sportscene team will be telling the story of this year's journey on the Road to Hampden from the first kick of the ball last September all the way to today's final tie. We'll be going behind the scenes to see how both clubs have been building up to the big day, there will be a trip down memory lane as we look back at both club's Scottish Cup heritage, and we'll bring you all the team news and tactical analysis as kick-off approaches.
Presented by Rob Maclean with Pat Nevin and Scotland Manager Craig Levein. Liam McLeod and Craig Paterson are in the commentary box.
