Antiques expert Tim Wonnacott and chef Rosemary Shrager travel in the footsteps of Queen Victoria, our longest reigning monarch, looking at the houses, castles and stately homes she visited throughout her life.

Victoria and Albert were guests at the stunning Burghley House, Lincolnshire, in 1844. Victoria had been here before when she was 18, and wrote in her diary, 'I remembered its beautiful exterior and splendid situation but was even more struck when I arrived this time.' In 1844, the pair came to Burghley for a christening where Albert was the godfather and, for once, the centre of attention - although the baby was still called Victoria. As Tim discovers, the christening didn't quite go to plan.

Amazingly, the Marquess of Exeter had been planning this visit for four years... so it's no wonder he wanted the royal autographs seen in an amazing guest book that Tim discovers. Tim also learns how the hosts were so keen on capturing this momentous occasion that they gave a VIP pass to The Illustrated London News, the world's first illustrated weekly publication, the Hello magazine of its day. And we see the sketches commissioned to accompany the story.

Tim explores the royal apartments at Burghley that are amongst the finest the Queen found on her travels.

With chef and food historian Ivan Day, Rosemary cooks a special Victorian gingerbread recipe baked in original Victorian royal moulds that the local bakers made to sell for a penny to the townspeople lining the streets for Victoria's visit. Rosemary also discovers the secrets of a uniform fit for a footman to serve a Queen.
