Glow Stars

Scientist Nina and her young experimenters discover how substances change and react. Nina investigates what makes glow stars glow.

Scientist Nina and her young experimenters discover the amazing ways that things can change and react in the everyday world.

Nina investigates how glow stars glow, with the help of Luke, her sight neuron. Experimenters Jack, Mia and Razi visit Nina in her science lab and use their senses to work out that when something glows, it gives off light. But lamps and torches need electricity or batteries to make them glow. So what makes glow stars glow? Nina demonstrates how mixing certain chemicals together can make them glow.

Then they all visit a natural history museum and see some rocks that glow brightly under a special UV light. Back in the lab, the Experimenters prove that glow stars need UV light to make them start to glow. This can be found in ordinary light bulbs and in sunlight. But the glow fades when the glow stars have been in the dark for too long.
