Bruce Morton introduces a compilation of Celtic comedians plus a very special tribute to the late great Norman Wisdom.
In 2005 Sally Magnusson met up with Norman's son Nicholas Wisdom to discuss his life with the comedy legend. Over the course of the programme, Nick Wisdom builds up a profile of the comic genius highlighting both his eccentricity and his humanity. Highlights include Nick's memories of mealtimes with his father, the funny man’s incredible work ethic and why Norman almost embarrassed the whole family in front of the Queen.
Elsewhere on the Zone there is a compilation of the best Celtic comedians around featuring funny men and woman from Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Among the comedians are Scotland's Kevin Bridges (Michael McIntyre's Roadshow, Live At The Apollo), Phil Kay (QI), Armando Iannucci (I'm Alan Partridge, The Thick Of It), Jerry Sadowitz, John Sessions (QI), Elaine C Smith, Susan Morrison, Scott Agnew, Janey Godley, Susan Calman (R4's News Quiz), Ireland's Ed Byrne (Mock The Week), Sean Hughes (Never Mind The Buzzcocks), Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Ted, Doctor Who), Jimmy Carr (8 Out of 10 Cats, QI) and our token Welshman is Rhod Gilbert (Mock The Week, Would I Lie To You).
