Liz Kershaw sits in for Huey Morgan and chats to Mu from Fat Freddy's Drop and meets Matthew Houck aka Phosphorescent.
Liz Kershaw sits in for Huey and plays a selection of Huey's favourites and her own picks for a Sunday afternoon from Ike & Tina Turner to Canned Heat, Kings of Leon, Generation X, The Cars, Bo Diddley, Otis Redding, Taj Mahal, Dizzy Gillespie, Dead Kennedys, Neil Young and the SOS Band.
'Mu' or DJ Fitch, band leader and producer from one of New Zealand's greatest exports, the soul and reggae collective Fat Freddy's Drop chats to Liz on the phone. As the band hit the UK for some tour dates promoting their new live DVD 'Live At The Roundhouse'. Liz asks Mu about the trials of constant touring, New Zealand's music industry and asks him to choose a track for 'Sharing Is Caring'.
Liz is also joined by new King of Americana Matthew Houck whose band Phosphorescent has been heaped with accolades this year with their release of their 4th album 'Here's To Taking It Easy' on Dead Oceans. Liz talks to Matthew about their shared love of Joe Tex and Neil Young, his upbringing in Alabama and the country music he grew up with.
Also on the show listener Pippi from Glasgow picks a Pink Floyd record to spin on wax in 'Vinyl Fetish'.
