The winners have been announced, and this special documentary follows the successful chefs in the run up to the banquet, as they make the painstaking preparations for what is one of the most important meals they will ever cook.
The banquet is a celebration of the best local produce, and the chefs aren't leaving anything to chance. They return to their regions to visit the food producers and suppliers who have helped them through the competition. The banquet is to be hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales and attended by 100 local food champions: the producers farmers and fishermen who work tirelessly to put British produce on the map.
The pressure on the chefs to deliver is immense, and even the Great British Menu judges roll up their sleeves to ensure that the banquet goes according to plan.
