From the Ulster Hall in Belfast, the Ulster Orchestra and conductor Michal Dworzynski with a concert from their cycle Chopin @ 200, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth, this time with a strong Russian flavour. The repertoire, which alternates orchestral pieces with piano solo, includes music by Borodin, Chopin (some arranged by Glazunov) and Tchaikovsky. The soloist is the Russian virtuoso Nikolai Demidenko.

Followed by a focus on Daniel Barenboim as the celebrated conductor and pianist brings his Berlin Staatskapelle orchestra to London for 4 concerts, all of which will be recorded and broadcast -starting later this week- by Radio 3. Today, concentrating on chamber music, a veritable jewel from our archives: Barenboim's first-ever interview and recording for the 成人快手, aged 13, playing two Chopin pieces.
