In a no holds barred conversation, he discusses everything from his early life and family, through jazz bands and teaching in Newcastle; onto the heady days of first success, the tempestuous relationship with his fellow band members in The Police and their reunion tour. He also covers his successful solo career, which continues with the release of his new Winter album; charity work and his feelings on the X Factor and contemporary music.
