Alex and Bex

Episode 2 of 6

Alex and Bex are given the cash to transform their South Woodford house into a home, as long as Alex makes every design, decorating and DIY decision by himself.

Couples who can't afford to transform their house into a dream living space are given the cash to do so with the proviso that one half must make every design, decorating and DIY decision by themselves.

24-year-old DJ Alex and his 27-year-old PR girlfriend Bex have been going out for six years and Alex recently moved into her two-up, two-down terrace house in South Woodford. The house is packed with hearts, knick-knacks, hand-me-down furniture and dried flowers, inspired by Bex's parents' country cottage. But it's not a look that Alex likes at all.

They are given 10,000 pounds to transform the place from her house into their home, but there's a catch - DIY virgin Alex has to do all the work himself, Bex has to move out and they will have absolutely no contact for three weeks.

Whilst Alex gets to work painting Bex's bedroom her least favourite colour, chucking out her cream sofas and boarding up her fireplace, Bex is busy with her own secret project - a life-size doll's house replica of her house to decorate exactly as she wants. Alex knows nothing about it, but will get to see it just two days before Bex moves back to their home.

Will he stick to his guns and keep to his macho, man-pad theme? Or will he try to give his girlfriend what she really wants?
