From the Barbican, London. David Robertson conducts the 成人快手 SO and Chorus in two great works of mourning: Desprez's Nymphes des bois and Boulez's Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna.

Presented by Catherine Bott.

In a concert from London's Barbican Centre, David Robertson conducts the 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in great works of musical mourning.

The programme begins with a piece by Josquin Desprez, who was born around 1450 and who was among the most influential and highly regarded composers of his day. His elegy Nymphes des bois, for unaccompanied voices, is one of the great threnodies of the Renaissance.

It is followed by Boulez's dramatic Rituel, written in 1975 for the 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra and featuring eight groups of musicians spread around the performance space. Boulez dedicated it to the memory of his friend and colleague Bruno Maderna, one of the great Italian composers of the post-war era.
