Born on the 13th of August 1919 in Battersea, London, tonight's show includes recordings from George's early career in the UK with groups including Harry Parry's Radio Sextet.
He is also heard with Nat 'King' Cole, Robert Farnon & his Orchestra and with the 成人快手 Big Band.
Clare also features tracks from Billy May, Woody Herman and the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
