How do people react to disabilities?
A charity says one in five of us have never encountered a disabled person in a social situation; and Do men have the work/life balance right? Graham Stewart takes your calls.
A new TV and radio campaign has been launched to highlight our attitudes to people with a disability. Figures from Leonard Cheshire Disability show that one in five of non-disabled people have never encountered a disabled person in a social situation. Is this because the able-bodied ignore the disabled, or are the disabled are so lacking self-confidence they simply don't go out?
Plus: Do men have the work/life balance right?
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Nichol Stephen has made the shock decision to give up his job, he says, to "spend more time with my family". It's become a political clich茅 that usually hides the real reason for a politician's departure, but doesn't our cynicism suggest there's a stigma against men wanting to raise their children? Would we ever question a woman who decided to quit a job for family reasons? Give me a call if you're a man and you've given up your job to spend more time with the kids. Did you get jip from your colleagues and mates? And is life an awful lot better now you're out of the rat race?
Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
