The NHS at 60
As the NHS celebrates its 60th anniversary, Graham Stewart and a panel of guests look at the challenges it faces.
As the National Health Service celebrates its 60th anniversary we look at the future challenges facing the NHS with our panel of guests. Scotland has been a leader in the health field - and long before the NHS was ever set up - but with an ageing population, and the increasing price of drugs, cost pressures on the service have never been greater. What will the NHS look like in another 60 years? Will it still be here?
Our panel of guests are: Andrew Walker, health economist at Glasgow University; Professor June Andrews, an ex-nurse who now runs the Iris Murdoch Dementia Centre at Stirling University; and Ken Paterson, physician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
