Programme 8
Charlie Gillen and Will McAvoy have a yarn about ploughing and the Ulster-Scots tongue.
Charlie Gillen yarns with his old friend, Will McAvoy, about horse ploughing, potato digging, blacksmithing, schooldays and other subjects, all delivered in their native Ulster-Scots tongue.
Charlie reads his poem ‘Well get what’ll dae us’ and there’s background music by Dick Glasgow. The two men talk about the various Ulster-Scots words used in Counties Antrim and Down.
