Donald Macleod explores the year of 1821 when Rossini wrote The Barber of Seville, and his tragi-comedy Matilde di Shabran.
ossini is said to have completed The Barber of Seville in a fortnight, but even he couldn鈥檛 compose three operas at once 鈥� although that鈥檚 exactly what he tried to do in 1821, as Donald Macleod relates in today鈥檚 programme.
