On Humberside's gruelling training course they must lift heavy ladders, keep their cool when faced with fires raging at temperatures that can melt metal and rescue casualties from burning buildings. They want to blaze a trail and be among the fraction of women who make the grade in one of Britain's most dangerous jobs.
