Jamie from the Block: the ‘authentic’ vlogger loved by millions
21 February 2019

Kim Kardashian she ain’t.
Jamie Genevieve is a 25-year-old social media make-up artist from Clackmannanshire who regularly pulls in millions of views for her make-up tutorials. But it’s her strong Scottish accent, tattoos and goofing around that separate her from the beauty influencer pack.
In the four years since her first vlog, she has achieved over 1 million followers on Instagram and 750,000 YouTube subscribers.
From relatively humble beginnings as beauty counter assistant, her transformative make-up tips and down-to-earth manner eventually turned her love of beauty into a lucrative business. To her dedicated fans, she feels like a friend.
Jamie stars in a new ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ documentary, filmed over six beauty-vlogging months, in which she shares the secrets behind her videos and selfies.

Jamie's top 3 tips for great selfies
- Hold the camera nice and high
“You should take the picture from high up, looking down on you — otherwise you get a big ball head!” - Bite your cheeks
“Someone once told me (or I saw it in a YouTube video) that if you bite the inside of your cheeks at the back and it makes you...” *runs finger down angular cheekbone*. - Take advantage of good lighting, wherever you happen to be
“Don’t be scared to do it in public. See if you’re on a plane, you’re getting some nice lights. Just get your phone out; don’t worry about the people sitting next to you. The amount of funny looks I get!”
