Cheaper by the baker’s dozen: Dundee parents reveal that they’re hoping for some quiet time after having THIRTEEN children

27 June 2019

Peaceful moments are rare in the Hann family’s Dundee home. Parents Emma and Roy have a grand total of 13 children, aged from four to 27, and while some have now moved into their own homes, there are still plenty of junior Hanns requiring their attention.

The idea of having a house full of kids always appealed to Emma and Roy, who are both from large families themselves, and the couple admit they previously “left it all to nature” to determine the number of children they had.

But, as they revealed on Our Lives with Michelle McManus, the prospect of adding a fourteenth child is now firmly ruled out, thanks to the appearance of grandchildren.

Emma and Roy said life with their large brood has been “rewarding”, but that it was time to focus on their own relationship.

“It’s [been] exhausting,” said Roy. “We need some time for ourselves now.”
