Could ‘Moneyball’ data help you raise your children?
3 July 2019
“In order to make good decisions about parenting, you first need to get the evidence and really understand what the best data says. Then you need to take that data and think about what is going to work for your family.”
Emily Oster, an economist, has written a book of parenting advice based purely on data collected around subjects ranging from breastfeeding, to infant sleep and vaccinations.
Speaking on Mornings with Kaye Adams, she acknowledged that parents aren’t always going to follow the advice to which the data points:-
“Not everyone is going to make the same choice, even with the same data. Hopefully it helps you think about how to make decisions.”
