Wizkid
Wizkid is an artist who has been heavily championed by Drake - and for good reason. Drizzy teaming up with the Nigerian Afrobeats superstar for One Dance, the 2016 smash hit that spent a whopping 15 weeks at No.1 in the UK. Wizkid has since gone on to work with Major Lazer, Skepta, the one and only Beyoncé, and more.
As well as being one of Nigeria's biggest music exports (his upcoming album is proudly titled Made In Lagos), Wizkid will be bringing a pan-African sound to 1Xtra Live. After all, his motto is "Africa to the world".
He : "It's very important for people to understand that when I'm saying 'Africa to the world,' I'm not just saying 'Nigeria to the world'... There is enormous talent everywhere you go to in this part of Africa... It's better to stick together. Africa is one, man."

Aitch
Manchester MC Aitch's rise has been rapid. Little over a year ago, he uploaded his Straight Rhymes 1 freestyle to YouTube, an effortless onslaught of self-assured bars backed by tongue-in-cheek humour that went viral and soon won him co-signs from the likes of Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and Kanye's right-hand man Virgil Abloh, while also in his wake.
Since then, he's delivered , broke the UK Top 5 and . Fans will be able to get a Taste of Aitch's effortless flow at 1Xtra Live in Birmingham.

DaniLeigh
Dominican-American singer DaniLeigh is without a doubt an all-rounder. As well as her vocal chops, she's also danced with the likes of Pharrell and Missy Elliott, directed a music video for Prince and went viral with her (that clip has racked up almost 10 million views to date).
It's her music, a mix of smooth R&B and club-friendly rap, where she truly shines however. "People always tell me that what I sing about has really helped them. That's what keeps me going," she in a recent interview, reiterating some advice that her mentor Prince gave her: "Never compromise yourself. Make sure everything you do is real and true to your heart."

French Montana
Rapper, singer, producer. Rap, trap, RnB. Is there anything French Montana can’t do? He’s had hits with everyone from Drake and Diplo to Stefflon Don and Swae Lee, and now, after a stunning set at 1Xtra Live 2017, Montana's return in 2019 promises to be Unforgettable.
He might bring some new music along with him too, having been hard at work on his third album in recent months. So what should we expect? Something special, as the artist himself : “When you’re sleeping, I’m up. When you wake up, I’m already up. When you go back to sleep, I’m still up. When you wake back up, I might be thinking about taking a nap... I’m 10 years in the game and I’m still hungry to find that special record.”
French Montana says of playing 1Xtra Live 2019: "I can’t wait to return to the stage at 1Xtra Live! UK get ready to WIGGLE IT! It’s going to be a night to remember."

Headie One
Headie One has seven mixtapes to his name, and each exhibits the Tottenham rapper’s gradual evolution from attention-grabbing drill to experimental hip-hop. He landed a breakthrough with 2018 track ’18HUNNA (ft. Dave)’, and he's been determined to break new ground ever since.
In a recent self-shot documentary, he says he wants fans to “listen carefully” to latest tape ‘Music x Road’, “and use it to hopefully better their situation.” The 2019 release is characterised by his sharp, ever-evolving flow and commanding lyricism, but it also shows an artist in constant flux. He even samples dance anthem ‘Free’ by Ultra Naté on the track ‘Both’, and it’s the closest he's come to writing an out-and-out pop hit. This is a MC in serious demand.

JayKae
1Xtra Live 2019 in Birmingham is going to be extra meaningful for local lad JayKae, who hails from the city’s Small Heath district (yes, that Small Heath of Peaky Blinders fame). Though the genre’s roots stem from the capital, JayKae is part of a new crop of Brummie MCs putting their city on the grime map; an exciting scene that also includes the likes of MIST, Lady Leshurr and Lotto Boyzz.
JayKae’s history in battle rap is evident in his fiery, no-nonsense bars, attracting early buzz with his tracks Toothache and Moscow (he’s of the latter: “It’s a Birmingham song. I know it’s called Moscow but it is a Birmingham tune. Go out in the clubs in Birmingham and you’ll hear that tune.”) The past year has seen the MC team up with the likes of The Streets, slowthai and Ed Sheeran, with 1Xtra Live 2019 a perfect victory lap to cap things off.
JayKae says of playing 1Xtra Live 2019: "By order of the Peaky Blinders I have been sent to take the roof off of 1Xtra Live in my hometown Birmingham."

Miraa May
Miraa May's career so far has seen the star roam freely between different sounds, from the dub-inspired tunes of her N15 EP to her more R&B recent numbers. But whether it's the self-love anthem of Angles or her swaggering latest single What I Smoke, there's a common theme to Miraa May's music and that's complete, utter self-assurance.
"To be honest, I think part of it is because I'm Algerian – we're a very proud people. Another part is me being Muslim – we're also a very proud people," the Algerian-born, Tottenham-bred artist . "I also think, just as a woman, you have to be independent."
Seani B introduced May's 1Xtra performance in Jamaica earlier this year by saying, "You're going to witness something very special right now," and ahead of her 1Xtra Live set, we predict likewise.
Ms Banks
She’s toured with Cardi B and been . Who can argue with credentials like that? Of her Nicki co-sign (Minaj quote-tweeted the South Londoner’s Yu Zimme Rmx lyrics out of the blue in 2017), Ms Banks : “I woke up to like everyone congratulating me and all these thousands of messages… Literally it just felt like a dream… I tweeted back and we started chatting.”
While we’re still waiting on that potential Nicki collab, Ms Banks has served up one of 2019’s big bangers in the form of , and will be bringing a bit of South London energy to Birmingham for 1Xtra Live, because, as 1Xtra’s Ace puts it: “South London needs to be represented!”
Ms Banks says of playing 1Xtra Live 2019: "I’m so excited to be performing at 1Xtra live, this has been a long life dream of mine and I just can’t wait to touch stage!!!"

Stylo G
Spanish Town, Jamaica-raised, south London-based artist Stylo G has been repping dancehall since 2008, slowly emerging as one of the sound’s leading names.
2011 single ‘Call Mi a Yardie’ announced the rapper as a genre-fusing star, blending grime and house with a dancehall core that spoke to his proud heritage. Since then, he’s performed at Glastonbury, picked up ultra-famous fans in Usain Bolt and Idris Elba, not to mention the adoration of 1Xtra’s own Rodigan and Toddla T. And recent single ‘Touch Down’, featuring Nicki Minaj & Vybz Kartel, shows he’s still penning party-starting anthems for fun.
