‘My brother killed our mum and he is STILL in charge of her estate’
25 January 2019
In 2014 Ross Taggart choked his mother to death, leaving the rest of his family including his sister Lorraine ‘devastated’.
Taggart was sentenced to life in prison and ordered him to serve a minimum of 18 years. Although he cannot inherit the hundreds of thousands of pounds his mother left him, he is the executor of his mother’s estate and continues to affect his family from behind bars by denying them any access to her former home or belongings.
Five years on from their mother’s murder, Ross’s sister Lorraine Taggart Bristow is campaigning for a change in the law. She spoke to Mornings with Kaye Adams on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Scotland:-
“I couldn’t care less about the house: it’s the belongings in the house.
“For me it’s crippling. I struggle on a daily basis to function. How would you feel? You can’t go and grieve ... can’t go and get photographs — silly things like her pillow that would smell of her. I just want her smell ...anything.”
