‘They’re so insidious’ — Comic book legend Mark Millar on why he doesn’t find social media ‘like’ buttons very Kick-Ass

Mark Millar – the brains behind Kick-Ass and Wantedspoke to Mirror Mirror about his thoughts on the social media ‘like button’ and how it has had a negative effect on society.

Working at a tech company meant that Mark had the opportunity to talk to people at Facebook. He explained that they implied the like button was developed specifically to ensure users returned to the platform to see how may ‘likes’ their stories and photos had received.

Mark added: “The whole thing has been planned to be addictive. It’s so insidious, we have to stop it.”
