Hidden

Harry Venn played by Philip Glenister

Harry is a high street London solicitor with a small practice in North London, doing legal aid mostly. He does criminal work but none of his clients are exactly criminal masterminds. His marriage came apart a while ago as he couldn't keep his appetite for women under control. His ex-wife, Lauren, has moved on but they still see each other now and then – mainly for the sake of their son, Michael, with whom Harry has a difficult relationship. His life is largely steady until a woman called Gina Hawkes turns up at his office asking him to track down someone from his past. Nothing seems to add up, and before he knows it the past he thought he had left behind begins to catch up with him.

Gina Hawkes played by Thekla Reuten

Gina is a high profile lawyer, representing career criminal Stevie Quirke after he walked into a police station confessing to a murder he committed several years ago. Quirke wants Gina to find the one man who he believes can get him out of this fix, Joe Collins. Gina approaches Harry, knowing Collins is an acquaintance from his past, and offers him money to find him. Harry takes the job, however it soon becomes apparent that Gina’s motivations aren’t quite what they seem and she too has a hidden past.

Sir Nigel Fountain played by David Suchet

Fountain is Gina's surrogate father. As a leading QC and prominent figure, he agrees to act for her in the Quirke case. However given his experience and Gina’s background, it doesn't quite add up why either of them would be interested in representing this serial criminal with little hope or ambition…

Frank Hanna played by Richard Dormer

Hanna has done time, on several occasions now, and Harry has acted as his solicitor over the years. As Harry finds himself in murky waters he turns to Frank for help, knowing he is resourceful and wily and doesn’t tend to do things by the book. When they both find themselves out of their depth, Hanna starts to wonder how his own lawyer has got him into this.

Fenton Russell played by Thomas Craig

Detective Sergeant Russell is determined to bring Harry down before he retires. He is convinced Harry was the getaway driver in a robbery he was investigating twenty years ago and won't let it go until he is brought to justice.

Prime Minister Brian Worsley played by David Michaels

With rioting across Britain and the markets plunging, it's not a good time to be Prime Minister. And things get much worse when rumours begin to circulate that Worsley has been diverting funds into an offshore account. He is hanging on by a whisker but without a majority, and Britain in disarray, it's unclear how long he can stay in power.

MP Alexander Wentworth played by Bertie Carvel

Wentworth is a rising star on the political scene with backing from influential circles. When Prime Minister Worsley gets into trouble, he smells blood and ruthlessly starts to position himself as his natural successor.

James Morpeth played by Matthew Marsh

An incredibly wealthy industrialist, Morpeth is a long time follower of the political ideals laid down by the deceased Teddy Cockburn. Feeling a duty to continue to his political ideals, Morpeth tries to use his financial muscle to influence others at this time of crisis.

Elspeth Verney played by Anna Chancellor

Verney runs RDO Media, a major international news corporation. She has major clout in the political sphere and is not afraid to shape it, particularly when it comes to tainting the reputation of Prime Minister Brian Worsley.

Mark Venn played by Mark Powley

Harry's older brother who was killed in a botched robbery 20 years ago.

George Venn played by Christopher Fairbank

Harry's father, who holds Harry partly responsible for his brother's death.
